Founded in 2020 by Dhafer L’Abidine, Double A is a cross-border production company house creating original films and premium television content. With award-winning projects like Ghodwa, To My Son, and Sophia, it bridges Middle Eastern and international storytelling, reinforcing its position as a dynamic force in independent production and cross-cultural cinematic dialogue.
From Ghodwa’s Success
To Global Acclaim with To My Son
In 2021, Double A produced its debut feature film Ghodwa. The film was shot in Tunisia and premiered at the Cairo International Film Festival in (2022) where it earned the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film. Ghodwa’s wide theatrical release across the whole of the Middle East was followed by its acquisition by Netflix for its global audience in 2023.
Double A Productions went on
to produce its second feature film, To My Son, which was
filmed in the U.K. and Saudi Arabia. To My Son premiered
at the Red Sea Film Festival in 2023 is currently being
distributed in the Middle East by Front Row Filmed
Entertainment, and AGC Studios internationally.
Sophia is the latest feature film produced by Double A and shot between the UK and Tunisia. The film is directed by Dhafer L’Abidine and starrs Jessica Brown Findlay, Jonathan Hyde, Kais Setti, Hiba Abouk and Dhafer L'Abidine. The film recently won the Best Director award at the. 2026 Manchester International Film Festival.
